Molecular Weight:
Isoforms between ~90-120 kDa observed. Other isoforms may be observed in some lysates.
Immunogen:
Recombinant protein corresponding to rat SAPAP.
Clone:
N127/31
Isotype:
IgG2bκ
Background Information:
SAPAP1 is a member of the SAPAP family of proteins and is thought to be instrumental in the postsynaptic scaffold of neurons. SAPAP1 may function to assemble various other proteins at synapses. These functional proteins include scaffolding proteins, signaling proteins and cytoskeletal proteins. SAPAP1 is primarily found in the brain and more specifically in the cell body zones.

Rat
Species Reactivity Note:
Demonstrated to react with rat.
Application Notes:
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: 1:400 dilution from a previous lot detected SAPAP in rat schwan cells (putamen area) and rat dopaminergic neurons.
Immunofluorescence Analysis: A previous lot of this antibody was used by an independent laboratory in cultured rat hippocampal pyramidal cells and interneurons. (Courtesy of Dieter Edbauer and Morgan Sheng, Picower Institute, MIT.)

Entrez Gene Summary:
binds the guanylate kinase-like domain of the PSD-95 family of synaptic ion channel clustering proteins; may play a role in protein-protein interactions at the synaptic junction [RGD].
UniProt Summary:
FUNCTION: Part of the postsynaptic scaffold in neuronal cells.
SUBUNIT STRUCTURE: Interacts with guanylate kinase-like domain of DLG1, DLG2, DLG3, DLG4 and AIP1. Interacts with the PDZ domain of SHANK1, SHANK2 and SHANK3. Found in a complex with DLG4 and SHANK1, SHANK2 or SHANK3. Found in a complex with DLG4 and BEGAIN. Interacts with DYL2 and LRFN1.
