Virstatin Inhibits virulence regulation in V. cholerae. Prevents expression of cholera toxin and the toxin coregulated pilus (TCP) by inhibiting the transcriptional regulator ToxT. Effectively protects infant mice against TCP-dependent V. cholerae intestinal colonization in vivo. Displays little toxicity towards mammalian cells (up to 2mM for Hep2 cells).
