Functional Aspects:
Perpherin is an intermediate filament protein expressed in peripheral neurons including enteric ganglian cells and it is present in neuronal derivatives of the neural crest. This antibody does not stain chromaffin cells, which is an advantage over other neural markers, but is a useful marker for neural crest derived tumors such as neuroblastomas and ganglioneuroblastomas for research applications. |
