Schneider's Drosophila Medium
Schneider's Drosophila Medium was originally designed for the growth of S2 cells from the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaser. Schneider's Drosophila Medium can also be used to culture other dipteran cell lines. This medium can be used for transient or stable transfection and large scale protein production in S2 cells. Life Technologies offers a variety of Gibco® Media options for a range of insect cell culture applications.
Formulation
This Schneider's Drosophila Medium is modified; it contains L-glutamine and sodium bicarbonate. The complete formulation is available. Schneider's Drosophila Medium contains unique components required for S2 cell culture, including malic acid, fumaric acid, alpha-ketoglutaric acid, succinic acid, and the sugar trehelose.
