Cathepsin L, Mouse mAb (clone 3G10)
Cathepsin L is a member of the papain superfamily of cysteine proteases in human and mouse and, like many other proteases, it is synthesized as an inactive proenzyme. Cathepsins have a vital role in mammalian cellular turnover, they are involved in lysosomal protein degradation, proenzyme activation, antigen processing, and hormone maturation. Cathepsin L is expressed during fetal lung development along with cathepsin B, H, K, and S at protein and mRNA levels.
Isotype
Mouse IgG1
Clone/PAD
3G10
Immunogen
Purified human procathepsin L from conditioned culture medium of human non-small cell lung cancer EPLC (32M1) cell line.
Specificity
This antibody is specific for mouse cathepsin L (cathepsin L precursor, MEP) protein (accession # P06797, Q91UZ0), which is 94% and 76% homologous with rat and bovine respectively, and 75% homologous with canine and human.
Reactivity
Reactivity has been confirmed with concentrated supernatant from non-small cell human lung cancer cells (32M1) by western blotting and with metastatic soft tissue sarcomas (STS) by immunohistochemistry.5 The reactivity has been also confirmed by ELISA using human cathepsin L and procathepsin L.2Based on amino acid sequence homology, reactivity with chimpanzee, rat, bovine and canine is also expected.
