This monoclonal antibody binds the human CD4 antigen, a 55 kDa glycoprotein involved in the recognition of type II Major Histocompatability Complex antigens (MHC-II). CD4 is also the receptor for HIV. It is present on most T helper cells/inducer cells, and normal thymocytes. Positive tissue: Tonsil.
