This antibody reacts with the InterCellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1). ICAM-1 is a membrane glycoprotein, 80-155 kDa, with seven potential glycosylation sites. It is a lymphokine-inducible molecule and has been shown to be a ligand for LFA-1 mediated adhesion. ICAM-1 is expressed on endothelial cells and on many different activated cell types. Increased expression of ICAM-1 has been associated with many types of atherosclerotic lesions.
