Functional Aspects:p27 protein, also known as Kinase inhibitory protein 1 (Kip1), binds to cyclin E/cdk2 complexes and is found in growth-arrested cells. p27 restrains cell proliferation by setting the threshold level of cyclin E required to activate cdk2. p27 is found in proliferating cells in only a sequestered form when it cannot interact with cyclin E/cdk2 complexes. This antibody may be helpful in assessing p27 in non-proliferating cells of normal and tumor tissues.
