Functional Aspects: Mouse monoclonal antibody clone D2-40, specifically recognizes M2A Antigen, a 40kD oncofetal antigen characterized as an O-linked sialoglycoprotein that is expressed on lymphatic endothelial cells in normal and tumor tissues. This antibody does not react with blood vessel endothelium. The use of clone D2-40 in immunohistochemistry is superior to conventional histological approaches in accurately visualizing lymph vessels, and it clearly demarcates cell emboli in lymphatics of tumor sections. This antibody may prove helpful in determining lymphatic invasion and lymphangiogenesis in uncharacterized tissues. Interestingly, clone D2-40 has recently been identified as a marker for cells of mesothelial origin including malignant mesothelioma. This antibody is suitable for use on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. |
