Avidin D, Rhodamine600 (XRITC) labeled, is made from our ultrapure Avidin D and XRITC (a substituted form of rhodamine isothiocyanate). Rhodamine600 Avidin D also produces a red fluorescence but has absorption and emission maxima of about 25 nm longer wavelength than the TMRITC-labeled Avidin D. Rhodamine600(XRITC) Avidin D has an absorption maximum at about 575 nm and a maximum emission at about 600 nm. This feature can provide an advantage in double label techniques when using fluorescein as a second label since there is less overlap in spectra with rhodamine600 and consequently, less opportunity for energy transfer effects. Rhodamine600 Avidin D is also the reagent of choice when using krypton laser cell sorting. Rhodamine600 has about the same quantum yield and photobleaching characteristics as the tetramethylrhodamine label. |
